Fat Reduction vs Weight Loss
Fat Reduction Is Not Weight Loss
Short answer first, because you should not have to read a page to get it.
Body contouring will not make you lose weight. It changes your shape, not the number on the scale. Those are two different jobs, and mixing them up is the most common reason someone books the wrong thing.
What actually happens
Your body has a set number of fat cells in any given area. Losing weight makes those cells smaller. It does not remove them, and it does not let you pick where the change shows up. That is why one area can hold on while everything else responds.
What we do is different. We treat one area at a time and break down the fat cells in it, and your body clears them out over the following weeks. The cells that go are gone. The shape of that area changes because there is less in it.
The difference in four lines
| Fat reduction | Weight loss | |
|---|---|---|
| What changes | Your shape | The number on the scale |
| The fat cells in that area | Cleared out, and gone | Made smaller |
| Where the change shows | The area we treat | Wherever your body decides |
| What to measure it with | A tape measure | The scale |
Half an hour, and you leave with a plan of your own.
Why the scale barely moves
Fat does not weigh much for the room it takes up. Take a real amount off a waistline and the scale might not notice at all.
This trips people up, so it is worth saying plainly: the scale is the wrong tool for measuring this. A tape measure is the right one, and so are your clothes. Our clients almost never talk about pounds. They talk about inches, and about a pair of jeans.
One of them put it better than we could: “I am now back into 34 inch waist jeans.”Monte Gibbs
Which group are you in
This works for you if
- You are at, or close to, the weight you want to be.
- There is a specific area that has not responded to anything.
- You want the shape to change, not the number.
- You are willing to come in several times. This is not one appointment.
This is not for you if
- You are looking to lose a large amount of weight. Body contouring is the wrong first step for that, and the weight loss options are the better conversation to have at your intro visit.
- You want a single visit that fixes it.
- You are hoping the scale moves. It will not, and we would rather say that now than after you have paid for a package.
If that last group is you, we would honestly rather you did not book a contouring package. A treatment plan that cannot give you what you came for is a waste of your money and our time.
What we do instead of guessing
At your intro visit we look at the actual areas, talk about what you want to change, and say whether this is the right tool. Sometimes it is not. You will get a straight answer either way.
Or read about cryosculpting st louis, which is the treatment most people are asking about when they land here.
Get started with an intro visit
It takes about half an hour, and you leave with a plan built around your goals. If this is not the right thing for those goals, we will say so.
