You are probably a good candidate for body contouring if you are close to the weight you want and one area will not change. Answer the four questions below to check, then read the short list of people it does not suit.
Are you at or close to the weight you want?
Body contouring works on the shape of one area, so it suits people who are at or close to the weight they want. If that is you, you pass the first question.
A steady weight helps after treatment too, because the fat cells left in a treated area can grow if your weight goes up later.
Is there one area that has not responded to anything?
You should be able to point to it. People ask us about the stomach and waist most, and we also treat the upper arms, thighs, back and the area under the chin.
The cold treatment most people come in for goes after one area directly. Cleveland Clinic says fat freezing is designed for fat bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise. When the extra is spread all over, go back to the first question.
Are you happy to measure the change in inches?
Body contouring shows up on a tape measure and in the way your jeans fit. We also take progress photos at key points in your plan, from the same position and in the same light.
Read why the scale barely moves first if weighing yourself is how you usually track progress.
Can you come in several times over several weeks?
Plan on a course of visits. After each cold session, your body clears the treated fat cells over the following weeks, so the change builds gradually.
Most people notice a difference somewhere between three and eight sessions. Mary Brown, one of our clients, wrote: “I have had 4 treatments and have seen a remarkable improvement in my belly.”
If your calendar has room for a series of visits, you pass the last question.
Who is body contouring not for?
It is the wrong fit for three goals.
- Losing a large amount of weight. Body contouring is the wrong first step for that.
- One visit that fixes the area. The change builds over a course of sessions.
- A lower number on the scale. It barely moves with body contouring, and the change shows up in inches instead.
If one of those is your goal, body contouring is not worth the money, and we will tell you so.
Some people should skip the cold treatment for health reasons. Cleveland Clinic says fat freezing is not recommended for people with Raynaud’s phenomenon, cold urticaria, cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
Its list of other risks includes pregnancy, breastfeeding and some nerve and skin conditions. Talk to your doctor before you book if any of these apply to you.
What do we check at your intro visit?
We look at the areas, talk about what you want to change, and tell you whether this is the right tool. Sometimes it is not, and you will hear that.
Mention any health condition at the visit, because we confirm that each service is right for you before we begin.
If body contouring fits, you leave with a plan of your own, and we work out the whole cost before you commit to anything. The visit takes about half an hour, and nobody gets talked into a package.

What to do next
If you answered yes to all four, the next step is an intro visit. Bring the clothes that do not fit the way you want, if that helps explain the area.
